David Bowsher, Partner in Charge, Birmingham Office,

David K. Bowsher came to Adams and Reese in 2009 to continue to grow the firm’s already strong bankruptcy and transactional practices, as well as expand the firm’s governmental relations capacity. His practice focuses principally on mergers and acquisitions involving troubled companies and on corporate restructuring and bankruptcy issues, as well as other corporate and transactional matters. He also spends time in the firm's DC office on governmental relations matters.

Prior to joining the firm he worked most recently as Acting General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel at the United States Department of Commerce. During that time, he advised senior United States Government officials on a wide variety of issues, including providing financial assistance to distressed industries—e.g., the automotive and steel industries—foreign direct investment, Congressional oversight and investigations, coastal development litigation (particularly oil and gas-related development), export control licensing and enforcement, and Internet governance. He also co-led United States engagement with the People’s Republic of China on transparency in government as part of the Strategic Economic Dialogue and led United States participation in the United States-China Legal Exchange as part of the Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade.

Before joining the Bush Administration, David was an Associate in the corporate and the bankruptcy and commercial departments of Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP, and was elected counsel prior to his departure. While at WilmerHale, he advised clients on corporate restructurings and mergers and acquisitions—both in and out of bankruptcy—with a focus on mid-market industrial and telecommunications companies.

Additionally, he assisted high technology companies in a variety of commercial transactions, including the formation of strategic alliances, and in assembling suites of form documents—e.g., license, reseller, OEM, professional services and maintenance agreements—for use by their sales forces. David served as a judicial clerk for Judge William H. Yohn, Jr. of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.



Vashon Bridgewaters , Manager of Decision Support

Vashon is the Manager of Decision Support Services at Vulcan Materials Company, the nation’s largest producer of construction aggregates—primarily crushed stone, sand and gravel—and a major producer of aggregates-based construction materials, including asphalt and ready-mixed concrete. He joined Vulcan in 2011. Today, he leads Vulcan’s Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing efforts.

Prior to this role, Vashon held positions in the Chemicals industry at ExxonMobile; in the Insurance and Banking industry at Fortis Insurance Co.; in Assurance Services at PricewaterhouseCoopers; and in the Telecommunication industry with Sprint, BellSouth, and AT&T.

Vashon serves as Vice President on STAIR of Birmingham Junior Board focuses at ensuring improved reading skills and self-esteem of second graders through 13 schools within the City of Birmingham.

Vashon and his wife Carrie reside in Vestavia Hills and are the parents of two children. He earned his Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Fisk University and his Masters of Business Administration from Texas Southern University.


Candice Bush , Independent Contractor

Candice graduated Magna Cum Laude from Auburn University with a major in Communications and a minor in Marketing. A member of the Project Corporate Leadership team since 2006, she currently serves as Treasurer overseeing the management and reporting of all finances.

As an independent contractor, Candice works as a graphic designer producing websites, proposals, site plans, brochures, invitations, and various marketing materials. Working with companies ranging from 3 - 300 employees, client satisfaction is her highest priority.

Prior to her current role, Candice served in various Marketing and Proposal Manager positions in the construction and employee benefits industries.

Candice resides in Birmingham, Alabama and has two children with her husband Jamie. She enjoys travel and spending time with her family.

Kathy Carlisle, Carlisle & Co., LLC

Kathy Carlisle is the owner of Carlisle & Co, providing professional development and executive coaching to clients in the Southeast region. She is expert in personality assessments and teambuilding. Kathy also provides consulting in employee communication, crafting and delivering messages across employee groups on such issues as benefits, wellness programs and performance management.

Kathy graduated from Project Corporate Leadership in 1995 and Leadership Birmingham in 2007. Before founding her own company, she was a Director at Capital Strategies Group, Managing Principal with Right Management, and Associate with Mercer Human Resources Consulting. Met Life and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama provided grounding in benefits and communicating with employee groups.

Kathy holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Montevallo. She has served as Pianist at Riverchase United Methodist Church for more than 10 years and directs RUMC’s Performing Arts Academy.

Alana Dominick is 2nd Vice President of Life Systems at Protective Life Corporation. She is responsible for the application development groups that serve the Life Insurance vertical of the company, providing solutions for the New Business, Policy Administration and Claims areas. Her commitment to operational excellence is paralleled by her commitment to creating a high performance culture that emphasizes best practices and personal accountability, fosters employee growth, facilitates opportunities for cross-training, and responds to the changing business climate with agility.

She is passionate about technology's role in driving better results, but she emphasizes the value of participation and teamwork to partner with the business in order to elevate the role of IT in driving business value.

Prior to her current work at Protective Life, Alana worked in various areas of the financial sector, and worked in a consulting role for the Accenture-BellSouth engagement.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University. She also participates in a variety of industry-specific, technical, and best-practice organizations.



Elizabeth Hamlin, Director Associate Services, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama

Elizabeth is Director Associate Services at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama, the largest provider of healthcare benefits in Alabama. In her role, Elizabeth leads a team which delivers innovative human resources solutions including, compensation and incentive programs, employee benefits, employee health and wellness, employee relations, learning technology, recruitment and staffing services and payroll.

Elizabeth has over 20 years of experience with Blue Cross and over 25 years' experience in Human Resources. Elizabeth graduated from Oakland University with a major in Human Resources Development.

Since 2003, Elizabeth has been an active member of the Junior League of Birmingham where she has served in numerous volunteer and leadership capacities having made an impact on the lives of women and children in the greater Birmingham community. She has served on several boards including past chair of board for Childcare Resources, a Project Corporate Leadership alumnae, member of the Birmingham Society of Human Resources Management, (BSHRM) and a member of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM).

She enjoys supporting various community activities, traveling, the theater and the arts.



W. Scott Hinkle, Senior Vice President, Consumer Sales Manager, Metro Market, Regions Bank

Scott joined Regions in 1986 and is the Consumer Sales Manager for the Metro Market in the Birmingham area. In this role since 2001, he leads a team of ten branch managers and their branches.

Prior to this current role, Scott held positions in retail banking with Regions in Anniston, Nashville, Chattanooga and Mobile.

Originally from Gulfport, MS., Scott now resides in Hoover, Alabama. He earned a Bachelor's in Business Administration from Millsaps College.

Scott is also active in the community by serving on several local boards including Alabama Landmarks, The Lakeview Business Association and Project Corporate Leadership.



Barbara Mason

Barbara Mason, HR Director for Southern Company Operations

Barbara Mason is the HR Director for Southern Company Operations, one of the largest electric utility providers in the Southeast. In her role, she supports the Chief Operating Officer and leads a team of HR professionals that are actively engaged in the strategic people initiatives for this organization. She has been an employee of Southern Company since 2008 and prior to that, she held HR leadership positions for Target Corporation and Office Max. Her entire career has been in Human Resources and has spanned multiple industries to include education, technology, retail and the utility sectors.

Barbara holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a major in Human Resources Management.

Barbara and her husband Marcus have two children and reside in McCalla, AL. They both enjoy traveling and participating in church and community activities.



Robert Palmer, Manager, AT&T Services, Inc.

Robert Palmer is a member of the AT&T management team in its Network Services division. Mr. Palmer was responsible for the BellSouth Dynamic IP Addressing Strategy and deployment resulting in significant cost savings for the company. Robert currently serves as the subject matter expert for dynamic IP configuration in the Southeastern region.

Mr. Palmer was founder and CEO of Problem Solvers Interactive, a software and multimedia development company. Prior to Problem Solvers, Mr. Palmer was co-founder and Vice President of Natural Selection, Inc., a provider of software for the insurance industry. Mr. Palmer holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Birmingham-Southern College and is a shareholder and Associate Broker for Commercial Property Services, Inc. Mr. Palmer currently provides technology consulting services for several local non-profit organizations including WBHM Public Radio 90.3 FM, and most recently the Project Corporate Leadership as its Technologies Chairperson. Robert is a past graduate of PCL, Class of 2001-2002.

 


James E. Robinson, Manager Commercial / Institutional Food Services, Alabama Gas Corporation

James E. Robinson is Manager of National Accounts and Commercial Foodservice Marketing for Alabama Gas Corporation, the state's largest natural gas utility. In this position he is responsible for all national account and commercial foodservice activity in Alagasco's seven divisions.

Active in several industry related and community organizations, Robinson is past Chairman of the Southern Gas Association's (SGA) Commercial Marketing Committee and a founding member of the Gas Foodservice Equipment Network (GFEN). Robinson is also an active member of the Jefferson State Community College Culinary and Hospitality Institute Advisory Board. In addition, he serves on the Education Committee of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE), the Board of Project Corporate Leadership (PCL) and the Advisory Committee of Youth Leadership Forum (YLF). Robinson is a member of the 2005-2006 class of Leadership Vestavia Hills and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Leadership Vestavia Hills.

A graduate of Tuskegee (Institute) University, he represents Alagasco on the Energy Solutions Center National Accounts Consortium.

James and his wife Debra reside in Vestavia Hills and are the proud parents of three sons, Mauri, a 2008 Morehouse College Cum Laude graduate and twins Myles and Malcolm, honor students at Vestavia Hills High School.

A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Cedric graduated from The University of Alabama in 1998, and later graduated from Miles Law School in 2003. In May 1998, Cedric was appointed to the City of Birmingham-Mayor's Office Division of Youth Services, where he served as Administrative Assistant to the Mayor. Just a year later, he was promoted to the position of Operation's Manager and shortly after, was promoted once again to Director of Operations. Finally, in July 2002, he was appointed Executive Director of DYS.

Cedric has been the recipient of many awards and acknowledgements including the FBI Director's Community Leader Award, Birmingham Business Journal's Top 40 Under 40, Graduate of Leadership Birmingham and Ebony Magazine's Top 30 Young Leaders of the Future.

And in the civic and community arena, he spends his time as Chair of the Birmingham CARES Mentoring Circle, Chairman of the Demeco Ryans Foundation, Deacon at 45th Street Baptist Church, and Chairman of the Western Area YMCA Board of Directors. He is also involved in numerous other community and civic activities.



Tina Tilashalski

Tina is the Compensation Manager at Altec, Inc., a leading provider of products and services to the electric utility, telecommunications, tree care, lights and signs, and contractor markets. Tina joined Altec in 1992 and held various roles in the HR department such as training, associate development, compensation, and compliance. She has a Bachelors Degree in Business Education from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and received her Master's Degree in Private and Public Management from Birmingham Southern. She is a Certified Compensation Professional. Along with the PCL Board, Tina is also on UAB's School of Business Human Resources Advisory Board. Her professional memberships include the Alabama Compensation Association and the Birmingham Society of Human Resources Management.

Tina and her husband, Ken, reside in Hoover, AL and are the busy parents of four children.
